Downs and Special Friends

Downs and Special Friends (DNSF) is a charity based in Batley, West Yorkshire, dedicated to assisting children and adults with Down Syndrome, Autism, ADHD, and other diagnosed or undiagnosed disabilities. Established to provide inclusive social events, educational workshops, recreational activities, and family support, DNSF aims to enhance the well-being, confidence, and life skills of its members.

The organisation has grown significantly since its inception, expanding from just 10 families to over 250 members in a short period. DNSF's activities include organising day trips, cinema outings, parties, and cycling sessions, all designed to foster social interaction and community integration.

Currently, DNSF is working towards transforming the historic Batley Baths into a permanent, inclusive community hub. This initiative aims to create a welcoming space where individuals with special needs can thrive, and the entire community can come together to learn, grow, and connect.

Through these efforts, DNSF continues to promote inclusion, raise awareness, and dispel the stigma surrounding disabilities within the Batley community and beyond.
