NAYC & ACUK (Action Centres UK Ltd) is a charity committed to releasing potential in young people. Since 1961 we have stood firm on our mission to help and educate young people through leisure-time activities and provide facilities for training leaders. We use activities to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities so that they may grow in maturity as individuals.
Our work includes:
Youthwork
Our youthwork association is based in Northampton and supports nearly 150 youth groups in the local area helping to set up new groups, support existing ones and provide training and resources for leaders. Recently we employed a youth worker to reach out to the community in the Midlands and help churches and youth groups with support and guidance in their ministry.
Action Centres
Our centres include Pioneer Centre in Shropshire, Whitemoor Lakes in Staffordshire and King's Park Conference & Sports Centre in Northampton. The centres welcome youth groups, schools, faith groups and charities for school residentials, conference events, camps, training courses and fellowship weekends. Young people enjoy rafting, canoeing, kayaking, high ropes, abseiling, zip wire, tennis, roller skating, trampolining and lots more!
Training Programme
The Firm Foundations Instructor gap year programme equips young adults for the outdoor industry whilst developing them into well rounded adults. Our trainee instructors gain industry standard qualifications and learn how to release potential in young people coming through our centres.
NAYC provides many opportunities for young people: teaching life skills that will be with them for the rest of their lives, taking them out of their comfort zone, to just having fun and creating lifelong friendships. We offer those living in poverty, difficult circumstances and young people at risk, those with disabilities, special needs, serious and life-threatening illnesses, the opportunity to develop their character, independence and self-confidence.
"Young people are our future and it is wonderful that NAYC is able to provide them with the confidence and skills to cope with life's challenges" (James Saunders Watson, NAYC President and Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire)
Your donation will enable us to continue our work with young people! Thank you for your support.
