My Story

I am so excited to be running The London Marathon 2025 for Hi Kent.

I've been given this fantastic opportunity to run for Hi Kent which I am truly honoured.

Hi Kent is a charity helping people to live well with hearing loss in Kent. It was established in 1986 by John Brown, who was profoundly deaf himself.  He wanted to bridge the gap between the deaf community and the hearing world.  Hi Kent is still carrying on his mission  helping to improve the lives of people with hearing loss by providing information, advice, skills, equipment and support to improve communication and reduce isolation.

Services include:
Information, advice and guidance
Assessment of needs and equipment service on behalf of Kent County Council
Lipreading courses
Tinnitus Support Groups and Social Groups
NHS hearing aid maintenance clinics in various locations across Kent
Private equipment demonstration and sale and commercial equipment for public buildings
British Sign Language courses and Deaf Awareness Training
Ear health checks and wax removal by microsuction

A little bit about myself. I'm 40 years old and married with 2 children. I've been running for nearly 10 years with Staplehurst Running Club and that's where I met Maxine who is the Chief Operating Officer at Hi Kent and offered me the chance to run for them 😁.  I ran the London Marathon in 2023 and 2024 both for different charities. The atmosphere is just incredible and such a buzz nothing can explain what it is like to have thousands of people cheering you on.

I can't wait to take on the 26.2 miles around London again in 2025 for Hi Kent. Hopefully I will raise a lot of money for Hi Kent so they can  continue to provide the support they give to help the deaf and hearing impaired.

If you can donate then I would be most grateful, thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to read my page 💖

About us

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
