My Story

I said I'd never ever ever run a marathon... What am I doing?! Send help!!!

Something I never thought I would say I was doing, both from an opportunity and self capability perspective... but here I am somehow bumbling through marathon training and all thanks to the amazing I.M.P.S giving me this incredible chance to run this dream race for a super deserving cause.

About I.M.P.S

Unintentional injury is a leading cause of death and illness in young people. On average 2 million children attend A&E departments each year because of accidental injury, with many of these injuries being preventable. The Injury Minimization Programme for Schools (I.M.P.S) gives children the chance to take personal responsibility for their own safety and learn emergency life skills to strengthen their confidence and self-esteem.

This includes, but is not limited to:

- First aid
- The recovery position
- CPR
- How to use an AED

This knowledge and skillset could not only save their own lives but save the lives of other children and adults.

Oxfordshire I.M.P.S. (Fund Number 0126)  is part of Oxford Hospitals Charity (Registered charity number 1175809)

About the London Marathon

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
