My Story

About me

Well, here I am. I still can’t believe I have got a place in the London Marathon 2025 though the ballot!

As many of you know, I am running a marathon in support of Twins Trust, a charity close to my heart. Recently, we launched the "Every Baby Safe and Sound" campaign, which highlights the crucial work that we do in supporting maternity units across the UK. This campaign is a perfect example of the lifesaving work we are dedicated to every single day.

The work that Twins Trust does is lifesaving. By providing maternity units with the resources, knowledge, and training they need, we can help reduce neonatal deaths, particularly in multiple pregnancies. Your donation will directly support this mission and allow us to reach even more hospitals, ensuring that more families experience the joy of bringing their babies home safe and sound.

On a personal note, I feel incredibly lucky. After a natural delivery, followed by an unexpected emergency, I was fortunate enough to bring my twins home healthy and safe, thanks to the exceptional care I received from the team at Royal Surrey Hospital. However, I know that not every family has the same experience. Many hospitals face challenges with resources and expertise, which is why your support is so crucial. With your help, we can make sure more families receive the care they need during what can be a very uncertain time.

Please consider making a donation to this important cause. Every contribution, no matter big or small, will help save lives and provide hope to more families.

Thank you so much for your generosity and support. Together, we can make a real difference!

A bit about my running journey .....

Those who know me long enough, know that I never been a runner, I hated running at school and I just thought of running as an absolute ‘torture’. I never understood why people ran, until….

About 10 years ago when I was struggling with our IVF journey I decided to give running a go. My husband was running at the time and encouraged me to come and join him. I could not run for a minute straight! But little by little I kept trying and I still remember the feeling when I ran for 10 minutes without stopping (and feeling like dying). I was so happy. The running journey was cut short as I finally fell pregnant with twins and as this was an IVF pregnancy, you can imagine I was scared to sneeze, let alone go for a jog!

After I had my twins I joined local running group, where I learned the social element of running and met new friends. I discovered a completely different side to running, the enjoyable and fun part, when it becomes a part of you and not ‘I have to go for a run’. I also discovered why midwives kept insisting on doing your pelvic floor during pregnancy!

But my real relationship with running didn’t start until one of my best friends said ‘ I will train you for a half marathon’. I laughed in her face and said ‘Don’t be so ridiculous’. Well, she was right and she did train me, we ran it and completely smashed it.

The training process has taught me so many things about myself, about the discipline, commitment, self-care and what running actually means to me. Running is not all about chasing digits or pbs, it takes time to learn how to enjoy it and truly to fall in love with it. Running has helped me through the toughest times of my life. Whether I’m feeling down or on top of the world, running has always been my outlet, my therapy. It’s where I clear my head, release my stress, and reconnect with who I am.

London Marathon was always top of my dream list, and here I am. I cannot think of a better running event for any runner – the atmosphere, the people, the reason why people want to do this bonkers distance, the diversity, all in the greatest city in the world! Everyone has a great story to share.

I am running this one for me, but I also want to make it about something much bigger than myself. I’m running to support a charity that is close to my heart - Twins Trust.

As a mummy of twins, this charity has been a lifeline for us. From the moment we found out we are execting twins, to the sleepless nights and the chaos of raising them, Twins Trust was there. Their support, advice, and resources were invaluable, especially during those early days. This charity is so much more than just an organisation - it is a community of families who understand the unique joys and challenges of raising twins, triplets, and more.

They offer expert guidance for everything from pregnancy and birth to the ups and downs of parenting multiples. They are there for families through all stages of life - whether you are navigating those early years, dealing with the loss of a baby, or just need someone who gets it.

Twins Trust is a small charity, but they do incredibly important work, and they need our support. If you are able, I'd be deeply grateful if you could help me raise funds for this incredible cause. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference in the lives of families with multiples.

Thank you for reading my story and supporting me on this journey.

Love,

Anna x
