My Story
Welcome to my fundraising page!
The London marathon 2025 will be my first marathon, I am a keen runner and enjoy running around outdoors in all weathers, I have run a half marathon once before and the thought of doing two of those back-to-back is slightly daunting. But I remind myself of the excellent cause I am raising money for – Earthwatch!
Earthwatch is an environmental charity based in Oxford. I have been working for Earthwatch since March 2024 after completing my Masters in Zoology at the University of Exeter (Cornwall campus). After finishing my studies, I knew I wanted to work in the environmental sector in an impactful way, the more time I spend at Earthwatch the more I am inspired by the hard-working, passionate group of people that make up this organisation.
Earthwatch connects people with nature, inspiring them to take action to protect the environment while equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to drive meaningful change. By harnessing the power of citizen science, Earthwatch empowers communities to gather vital data that can influence local neighbourhoods and inform decision-making at the highest levels of government. Through practical, science-driven efforts, Earthwatch advocates for the preservation of our planet, planting the seeds for a sustainable future.
One programme Earthwatch runs is the ‘Tiny Forest’ programme. Tiny Forest brings the benefits of woodlands into the heart of our cities and urban spaces: connecting people with nature, helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change, as well as providing spaces to support wildlife. So far, Earthwatch has planted over 250 Tiny Forests across the UK. Tiny forests consist of approximately 600 native tree species planted in an area the size of a tennis court. This high density encourages rapid growth caused by competition between the trees, and increases biodiversity.
You can search here to find where your nearest Tiny Forest is – it may be closer than you think!

In October, the Tiny Forest Tree Survey saw people measure and identify trees in our network of 250+ Tiny Forests across the UK.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my page – any donation big or small is greatly appreciated!
