Avril & Tony Leary
My Story
Avril and Tony have signed up to do the London Marathon 2025 and have selected Haven House Children's Hospice as their charity of choice for fundraising.
Haven House, just behind their home in Woodford Green, is an incredible place that offers exceptional care to seriously ill babies and children. Avril & Tony have witnessed first hand the amazing love and warmth the HH team bring to families during the most challenging times. Haven House provide round-the-clock care, including day and overnight stays, end-of-life support, and bereavement assistance. The team also offers life-enhancing activities like sensory play, music therapy, and physiotherapy. From the moment a heartbreaking diagnosis is made, they help to ensure families have the opportunity to make the most of their precious time together.
In support of this amazing hospice, Tony and Avril are lacing up their running shoes and are dedicating every step to the kids and families who truly need it. So, if you’d like to help them power through those long training runs and keep motivation high, any support would be greatly appreciated so they can raise some much-needed funds for these little superheroes!
While Tony is a part-time runner and a weekend footballer (coach and vets player), Avril’s main exercise is typing at lightning speed on the laptop. With just over 2 months to the big day (and a massive project going live the day after the marathon), Avril’s probably going to be limping through the marathon, glued to her phone, muttering complaints, and stressing over deadlines. Expect her to blame last year’s broken ankle for her leisurely pace, likely finishing just ahead of the street sweepers while walking the entire course at a power stroll pace.
It would be great to see anyone who can make it on the day and to support the fundraising activities that will take place over the coming weeks, alongside this page.
Please give what you can - no amount is too small.
Sending loads of love to all,
Tony & Avril Leary xx
