My Story
Through my research, I've visited, studied, and lived in some of the poorest countries in the world. Everywhere I go, it's striking how many innocent children are victims of the grotesque inequality and broken social systems that govern our planet. We are failing them.
All of us in the rich democracies of the world are beneficiaries of the lottery of birth, in which, through no choice of our own, we ended up living in places with clean water, educational opportunities, social safety nets, and above all, health care and physical safety. For those who won that lottery, with limited effort - and a small amount of money - charities like UNICEF can help amplify our attempt to help those who, through no fault of their own, lost that same lottery. From girls education in Afghanistan to reducing infant mortality in Zimbabwe, every bit helps.
I will match the first 1,000 pounds ($1,300) donated, so if you donate early, your impact will be doubled. Please help me in doing our small part with UNICEF to help kids who desperately need our support.
(Note: I've done my homework and UNICEF has been awarded GuideStar's Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest rating, and a Four-Star rating from Charity Navigator. Roughly 90 percent of every dollar donated goes directly to helping children, which is an extremely efficient proportion among the NGO/charity world).
