My Story

Hallo from Carmine Pariante.

I am the Chair of the Psychiatry Research Trust (PRT), a charity dedicated to promoting mental health through research and education.

I am truly excited to run the London Marathon to support the PRT. Mental and brain disorders affect one in four people at some point in their lives, causing distress to sufferers, families, and friends.

At the PRT we aim to support very important research and education into all aspects of mental and brain health, and we are particularly committed to developing the young scientists of tomorrow. Look at our website to know more about the work that we support.

I am running my first marathon at the age of 58 to fundraise for the PRT – so, please, donate for this very worthy cause!

I am a psychiatrist and a writer (and aspiring movie director) as well as a Kung Fu martial artist.

I have only been a runner for the last 10 years, but, during this time, I have been able to run in some of the most beautiful places in the worlds, from London (where I live) to Rome (where I used to live), from Venice to New York.

I have run five half-marathons (Hackney, Richmond, Berlin, Budapest and Vienna) and five Tough Madder races – and even a Colour Run, my only attempt to fundraise before this one.

If you are interested, please read my pieces on running in the times of COVID, why I like to smile when I am running,  and my own personal difficulties with grief.

As I sweat my way through my 16-weeks training plan, I will use this page and my Instagram and LinkedIn accounts to keep you posted on my running.

Please return to this page as much as you like, share it with your friends and family, and make me feel your support!
