My Story

I am taking on this challenge because I'm an advocate and always will be. I want to continue to improve the understanding and awareness of autism and how daily life for people with autism is different.

My life's work is getting people to really see autism and how just because someone's brain is wired differently, doesn't make them less. There are advancements in our world thanks to Neurodiversity.

And for the big emotional part. The really personal part. I grew up with autistic family members while none of us knew it. NAS helped me help someone so close to me go through the diagnosis process and I'll be forever grateful to them. My children have both autism, ADHD and sensory processing difficulties and I want them to see me train for this, commit to this and know that every step I take over those 26.2 miles is for them. I've mentally ran this so many times and hung my medal around their necks.

L, A, I love you so very much. March to the beats of your own drums and always know, me and your dad will always be here for you X

I am also a Special Needs and Disabilities teaching assistant and I'm running for the children in schools trying to gain an education like everyone else whilst living with Neurodivergent conditions. This is for them, the parents, schools and sectors fighting the fight.
