The Davison Brothers Take on the London Marathon—In Full Uruk-Hai Armour!

My Story

In April 2025, the four Davison brothers — William, Charlie, Arthur, and Oscar — are running the London Marathon together. But this isn’t just any marathon challenge. We’ll be running the full 42 kilometres wearing 10 kilograms of Uruk-Hai chainmail and armour each, complete with helmets. Why? To raise funds for Sarcoma UK, a cause that’s incredibly close to our hearts.

In 2018, we lost our Mum, Sharon Davison, to Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of soft tissue and bone cancer. Mum was a symbol of strength and resilience, even after her diagnosis in 2012 she continued running, completing the Bacchus Half Marathon in 2014. But despite several major surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, Sarcoma proved unforgiving. Mum passed away in August 2018 at Hospice in the Weald after a brave six-year battle.

Since then, each of us has run the London Marathon individually for Sarcoma UK, combining our love of physical challenges with a commitment to honour Mum’s memory. Between us, we’ve tackled desert marathons, high-altitude summits, and impenetrable rainforest treks, but the London marathon has always been a unique ambition of ours since we were kids. Every year we'd cheer runners on with a megaphone from the side of the road when we lived only a short distance from the route. In awe of runners in costumes: superheroes, the famous rhinos, and even the odd runner with a fridge on his back. So now it's our turn to wear the costume, choosing that of the Uruk-Hai from our collective favourite film trilogy The Lord of the Rings. The Uruk-Hai are fierce heavily armoured characters, renowned for their ability to cover vast distances at pace.

But this isn’t just about the physical test of running a marathon in heavy armour (though the chainmail chafing will be real). It’s about raising awareness and funds for Sarcoma UK, a vital organisation that works tirelessly to research better treatments, provide expert support, and ensure no one faces Sarcoma alone. Sarcoma accounts for only 1% of cancer diagnoses in the UK and with over a hundred sub-forms of the cancer, it's one of the most underfunded and poorly understood cancers, despite its devastating impact.

Your support will help us honour Mum’s incredible spirit while making a real difference. Sponsor us for the gruelling training, the 7-8 hour slog on race day, and the inevitable physio (and maybe psycho) therapy we’ll need afterwards. Most importantly, sponsor us to help Sarcoma UK continue its lifesaving work.

Together, we can fight for better treatments, greater awareness, and more hope for those impacted by Sarcoma.

Thank you for your generosity!
