My Story

About me

My name is Charlotte Barr and I am 18 years old, currently taking a gap year. During this year, I have been given an incredible opportunity to challenge myself, both physically and mentally whilst raising money for a charity that I am deeply passionate about. I am so fortunate to represent and raise funds for Brain Research, a charity which is really trying to tackle numerous neurological diseases such as: motor neurone disease (MND), Alzheimer's, brain tumours, dementia, and others listed on the Brain Research UK website. I chose Brain Research because my Grandad was diagnosed with MND, and his journey has been incredibly inspirational to me. I believe that by supporting me in this endeavour , you are not only raising awareness for a worthy cause, but also contributing to essential research that could potentially save lives in the future.

The London Marathon is a challenging endeavour that requires dedication, perseverance, and a strong sense of purpose. With my personal connection to the cause, I am fully committed to putting in the hard work and training required to complete the race. I believe that my inner drive and determination will inspire others to support the cause and donate to this important charity. With your support I am eager to use this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for brain research, and I am excited about the potential impact that my efforts could have on the lives of those affected by neurological diseases. The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
