My Story

My Story

I am running for Disability Rights UK because I am incredibly passionate about equality and independence for people living with disabilities. Feel like you've read this before? That's because you have! I was supposed to fundraise and run the 2023 London Marathon but my journey to the finish line ended just 6 days before the event. This year I'm back and i'm determined to make it to London 2025!

I work for a small trust called The Thalidomide Trust, a non-fundraising charity in Cambridgeshire. I have been privileged enough to work with an amazing team for the last 7.5 years, offering practical, financial and emotional support to people with disabilities caused by thalidomide. Disability Rights UK have been there to offer us training and advice that we can pass on to our beneficiaries, helping to us support them as best we can.

As well as my work life, there are people in my personal life that are living with varying disabilities, so I have seen first hand how much of a challenge it can make things. I very strongly believe that every individual should be able to live with equality and access to the support and services they are entitled to.

Follow me on my marathon journey over the coming months. I know it won't be easy. I hope you can all help keep me motivated, tell me I can do it when I say I can't and if possible, contribute whatever you can to such a brilliant charity.
