My Story
This is my beautiful grandma Christine, who I call my Nain.
I don’t quite have the right words to describe just how wonderful my Nain is. She is everything you can dream of when it comes to a grandma. She is the kindest and most caring person you will ever meet. She is always making everybody around her laugh and smile, usually we are laughing at something she has obliviously done or said. She is selfless and joyful and so incredibly strong. I know everybody says this but I mean it when I say her cooking is the best, nobody can make corned beef hash quite like Nain can. I love the smell of her washing and the feel of her hugs. The way her shoulders bounce when she laughs and how passionate she is about being Welsh. Her faith is admirable and her strength is exceptional, I can only dream of being as positive as she is.
This is the third time she has had cancer but this time it is terminal. She had cancer in the groin in 2001 and then breast cancer in 2018 and now she has Pancreatic Cancer. It is the deadliest common cancer. The brutal reality is that diagnosis comes far too late for most people. Half of people die within three months of diagnosis. Thankfully Nain's was caught early and at the moment it is stable but that won't last forever. So, families are left with only hope to hang on to. But hope is not enough, this disease needs to be detected sooner!
Please help me show her all the love and support she deserves and raise awareness for this horrible disease that has devastated our family and so many others.
I’m doing this for you Nain, I love you more than you will ever know xx
