My Story
I am finally running the London Marathon! 27th April 2025.
I have always hoped to run the London Marathon; I have applied every year, for the last 10 years through the ballot but I have never been successful.
I therefore feel very fortunate to have been offered a place with the Terrence Higgins Trust. The Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity, dedicated to ending the transmission of HIV in the UK, supporting people living with HIV, and promoting good sexual health.
I came accross the Terrence Higgins Trust when the Norwich branch offered and delivered some excellent sexual health talks to my Sixth form pupils, as well as some staff training sessions. They believe that every young person in the UK should receive high quality, LGBTQ+ inclusive and age related relationships and sex education.
To this day it amazes me that there is still a huge stigma around HIV. People living with HIV continue to experience social isolation and discrimination. The Terrence Higgins Trust provides support for people living with HIV, as well access to good quality sexual health and reproductive services. They are aiming to end new cases of HIV by 2030 - which is an amazing feat.
Running the London Marathon for the Terrence Higgins Trust is more than just a personal challenge; it is an opportunity to honor the memory of those lost to HIV, support those living with the virus, and contribute to a future free from HIV transmission. By raising awareness and funds, I hope to play a small part in the ongoing fight against HIV and to support the incredible work of the Terrence Higgins Trust.
Thank you for your support and encouragement!
