My Story

I am Chris Farrell, Husband, dad, runner, rower, world record holder, York City FC season ticket holder (for his sins) & is British Rowing Head of Community delivering national rowing participation.

At the age of 37, and after 7 years away from the last marathon i did, i will tie my trainer laces one more time to take on London streets and the 26.2 miles. I am no stranger to endurance challenges, being the current Concept 2 tandem continual world and British record holder with my wife rowing for over 3 days using the indoor rowing machine. However, now I am a little older. This one is going to really test me both mentally and physically over the winter months of training.

This time I do have the added extra motivation and am running for the fantastic All Aboard Youth Rowing.

All Aboard Youth Rowing delivers some phenomenal transformative projects to the sport of rowing, breaking down barriers and making rowing accessible to all. Welcoming young people from diverse backgrounds to experience its many benefits. Rowing as a sport can bring out the best in individuals, fostering self-esteem, confidence and develop valuable life skills that go beyond using an indoor rowing machine or on the water. I  have witnessed this both personally and in-person through my work. But not enough people have the real opportunity to really have a chance to also see the benefits. I am really passionate about enabling more opportunities like this to happen. And thanks to All Aboard Youth Rowing, we can raise vital funds to start to enable us to do just that.

Any support and donations will be very much welcomed as I start my journey and months of training towards this fantastic event. I really hope I can do everyone proud and raise lots of vital funds for this fantastic cause.
