My Story

Why I'm running the London Marathon 2025 for Dementia UK.

Exciting Challenge: This will be my third time running the London Marathon, I am motivated to push beyonds my limits and take on this challenge again.

Raising Awareness: Running for Dementia UK is important to me. I want to help raise awareness about this disease and its impact on families.

Personal Motivation: Each marathon has its own story. My family and I sadly lost my Nannie Mary in 2018 due to Dementia. We saw a lovely kind lady slowly deteriorate, turning into someone we could barely recognise and eventually succumb to effects of this devastating disease. She was the loveliest lady but this awful disease turned her vicious and unkind, she wasn't the Nan we all knew and loved. This was heartbreaking to watch and made it hard for us visit her as it was too upsetting for my whole family.
I’ve met other people going through very similar situations and heard their stories. This motivates me to give my all in 2025.

Fundraising Goals: My goal is to raise as much money as possible to honor my Nan's memory and support those currently living and facing this awful disease. Every penny counts in supporting research and care for those affected by dementia.

Community Support: I am grateful for all the support from friends, family, and fellow runners. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against Dementia, providing more care and ultimately more hope to those families in need.

Each act of giving, no matter how big or small, contributes to a greater cause and help work towards a day where no one has to face dementia alone. Together, we can make a meaningful change to peoples lives and your support will help an Admiral Nurse look after people with dementia and their families.
