My Story

Running the London Marathon has been a dream of mine for many years and the fact I get to do it, to raise funds for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care who supported my family through a very difficult time; means I am able to thank them with more than just words and show my appreciation for the amazing work they do!

For those of you who didn't know; my mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2012. She had to undergo extensive surgery, followed by chemotherapy for 10 weeks at Mount Vernon. During this time, she learnt about a small charity in Barnet called Cherry Lodge, who support patients through their cancer journeys.

She went along to weekly sessions and received support from other cancer survivors. It was a place to chat to others, receive free complementary therapies - chair massages, reflexology etc, all of which were a great comfort to her through this time. It also opened up an opportunity for her to speak to a Macmillan nurse, who helped her greatly with understanding her illness and how to cope with it.

My mum has gone on to recommend Cherry Lodge to friends, who unfortunately have been diagnosed with cancer and I know it has also been a great help to them too. Thankfully, my mum is now fit and well but I would love to help shine a spotlight on Cherry Lodge, who are a small charity based in Barnet; for all the help and support they gave to my mum and continue to give to others, through their cancer journeys.

Please help by sponsoring me in my first ever London Marathon and supporting this great small cancer charity.

Thanks in advance.
