My Story

Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support

Axminster and Lyme Cancer support was set up in 2018 by Mary Kahn, following a diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer in 2017. Although there was some great support available online and further afield having a network of support locally was missing.

I first met Mary in 2008 as a friend, over the years I have witness how hard she has worked to ensure her vision for a local support centre to help local people has been an honour.

Mary and her fabulous team have helped a number of my friends, some unfortunately were taken too early.  For others, including my husband, the team were on hand to prop you up and help through those difficult times. Now it is my turn to help raise funds for them to ensure the charity can keep helping the 650 (January 2023) people who have registered for support.

There are a variety of services available from creative activities, holistic therapies, relevant diet and lifestyle information, different exercise classes all for anyone affected by any cancer.

The funds I raise will go towards helping people cope with the fear, anxiety, isolation, or stress that cancer can bring by providing a chance to unwind over a cup of tea. Clients can also book their Beach Hut in Lyme Regis to enjoy a restorative day by the sea. Any donation big or small will make a big difference.
