My Story

Welcome to my page!!

Hello and thank you for visiting my page!

My name is Craig and I'm a driving instructor based in wisbech! Not exactly the type of person you would expect to run a marathon but I can explain why!

After not being able to run in 2024 I'm so excited to be joining the Arthur Rank team for 2025 and heres why I want to raise as much as I possibly can for this amazing charity!

Our family was perfect! Gary,Kay,Craig & Kealeigh to start with then growing to include James and of course Kai and Ava! Life was amazing, we spent so many amazing times all together weather that be having one of mums famous roast or her incredible scones, days out and time away! Whatever we did, we did it together!

In 2022 mum began to have some health problems effecting many different aspects of hers and dads life! These problems delveloped at an incredible rate until on the 14th of July 2022 mum was diagnosed with CJD Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. This is a rare prion disease that many people have never heard of but that was now our families reality!

After a short time in hospital mum came home and thats where our relationship with Arthur Rank Hospice began! Arthur Rank provided the most amazing palative care to my mum. Not only was that so important for her but also it helped us as a family be able to spend every possible second with her in the comfort of the family home! Every day for 3 weeks the ladies from Arthur Rank came to see my mum, always had time to chat to us and even used to put my mums favourite perfume on for her! Without these amazing people our last weeks with mum wouldnt of been as peaceful and easy! On the 6th of August 2022 mum peacefully passed away with her family around her! So I run this marathon in her name, over the past 2 years since she has been gone there have been so many times I needed one of mums hugs or a chat to make me realize that hard times are tempoary we just have to accept, adapt and overcome! To be completly honest I would run to the ends of the earth to have her back but seeing as that's not possible raising as much as I can for this amazing cause is my goal!

There will never be enough we can do to say thank you but if we can help to ensure these amazing people are still able to provide the best possible care for people and their families then we will do whatever we can!

As with everything we do in the name of our mum this will be a family effort! So I may be the one running the marathon but my family will be right there with me every step of the way!

So if you can spare anything at all to help me reach my goal it would mean the absolute world to us all!

Thank you so much and I'll see you at the finish line..........Hopefully!
