My Story
Hello! I'm Danielle and I'm lucky enough to be mummy to an amazing little girl called Elsie.
Elsie is 4 years old and she is one of a kind. She is beautiful inside and out, extremely kind and the funniest person I know! I met my best friend when I had Elsie ❤️ She is also the best big sister ever to our Ruby.
In May 2020, at just 16 days old, unfortunately Elsie became very poorly very quickly. We were isolated in hospital for a month during lockdown and our lives have looked a little different ever since. Elsie has a diagnosis of Bilateral Dystonic Cerebral Palsy. She struggles with balance and co-ordination, along with tight muscles which means she currently needs to use walking aids. She has regular hospital visits for X-Rays, MRI's and consultant visits at different hospitals. She attends weekly therapy sessions around school as well as intensive blocks during every school holiday. She works SO hard. This is now a normal part of our lives and Elsie amazes us every day with her courage and determination to get stronger and more independent. She is already reaching amazing milestones such as taking some unaided steps thanks to therapy, and we really believe that she will achieve whatever she wants in life!
Elsie's progress and acheivements so far would look very different if we hadn't discovered Cpotential. The therapists have become so important to us and the difference their positivity has made to Elsie's independence so far is incredible. They are caring, patient and encouraging, and she really looks forward to seeing them each time. Where as many doctors have told us what she 'will never be able to do', Cpotential show her what she CAN do and give her so much confidence💪
I am going to run the London Marathon for Cpotential, as a tiny thank you for the difference they make to children living with CP. This is a huge challenge for me, I am not a runner, never have been! I'll have Elsie and all the other CP families on my mind through training and on the day.
I really appreciate any donation no matter how small, it really means a lot to us and the amazing team at CPotential, thank you so much x
