My Story

I'm running the London Marathon for P3 Charity because I believe everyone deserves a chance to be a valued, engaged member of the community in which they live and have access to the support, resources and knowledge to make that happen.

P3 Charity has been working in local communities across England for more than 50 years, improving the communities in which they work by offering homelessness outreach services, affordable housing, tenancy support, advice services, mental health support, employment support and children’s and youth programmes. Everyday P3 works towards a vision of a country where no person is left on the fringes of society and everyone is given the opportunity and support needed to be a valued member of the community in which they live.

Poverty and mental-ill health don’t discriminate, so P3's services support people from all walks of life. Austerity measures of the last 10 years and the ongoing impact of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis has pushed more families into poverty than ever before and has caused a mental health emergency that the government alone can’t solve, which is why P3 needs our help.

P3's services are relational, always focused on the person, rather than the process, and their impact is always greatest when they have the resources to develop deeper relationships with people and their communities. Their specialist teams are trained to support people through these modern-day crises, and they’re passionate and committed and don’t give up on anyone.

P3's programmes are proven to make communities stronger, safer and more inclusive. But they can’t do this alone. They work with an incredible network of partner charities, organisations, businesses, agencies and supporters who make this work possible, but they need our help, too.

By supporting P3, you’ll be helping them to deliver tailored support for people in areas where none exists; you’ll help them to develop their approach to ensure they continue to offer sector-leading advice and support; and you’ll help further their mission of tackling poverty and social inequality, improving lives and communities.

Every gift, no matter the size, makes a real difference to someone’s wellbeing, enabling P3 to provide much needed items and support such as new-home-kits for people leaving the streets and moving into somewhere safe and settled to call home, Christmas hampers for families spending the holidays in emergency accommodation and daytrips for young people living in one of our support hostels. Your donation can also enable P3 expand their programmes, open new services where none exist and pilot new approaches that deliver better outcomes for more people, ensuring that they're there whenever someone needs them.

The sooner P3 can act, the sooner they can get people off the streets and into safe accommodation, the sooner they can give a family a permanent home, the sooner they can get a young person into employment and the sooner they can start to give people their futures back.

I hope that one day P3's services won’t be needed, but until that day comes, P3 and I are grateful for your support.
