From PhD to 26.2 Miles: My London Marathon Journey
Hi, I’m Deepika, and I’m thrilled to be running the London Marathon this year in support of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)!
I’ve been blind since birth, but that’s never stopped me from embracing life and chasing my dreams. This includes publishing my first novel, The Billion Dollar Dream, and moving from India to the UK to successfully complete a Master's and a PhD.
This year has been a big one for me—I successfully defended my PhD thesis in January 2025 and on 27 April 2025, I'll be taking on the incredible challenge of running 26.2 miles.
Apart from writing, running is one of my biggest passions - it helps me feel free, strong, and unstoppable!
I'll be fundraising for the RNIB, an organisation that provides practical and emotional support to people living with visual impairments like myself. I've personally benefited through their 'Living with sight loss' courses as well as their information hotline. I want to give back so that the RNIB can continue to help others.
Whether you can donate, cheer me on, or share my story, I deeply appreciate your support. Together, we can make a difference!
