My Story
I simply can NOT believe I am actually saying this (as will anyone who knows me )! But, YES……… I am running the 2025 TCS London Marathon in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. If you know me, you know that I am allergic to exercise!!!
However, in the summer of this year, I made a promise to my best friend that we would run the London 2025 Marathon dressed as "ABBA.' I aim to see through this journey and honour the legend that was EMMA BISHOP, while also raising funds for the incredible charity that is The Royal Marsen Cancer Charity.
On the 17th October 2024 Emma lost her fight against stage 4 non- small cell Lung cancer, and left behind her husband and, heartbreakingly, her two young children, Bea 7 and Edo, 6. Emma was one of those people who had that sparkle that lit up a room. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her, will know exactly what I mean.
When Emma was diagnosed in 2022 at the young age of 37, she took the news like the hero she was. Cancer wasn't going to stop her living life to the full. From the day of diagnosis until the very end she continued to thrive in life keeping life as normal as possible for Hugo, Bea and Edo. This was all possible thanks to what she referred to as her second home: The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Emma actually managed to run the marathon herself in support of the Royal Marsden after her diagnosis in 2023, raising over £115,000 And, that makes her one of the highest-ever fundraisers of The Royal Marsden!
None of this would have been possible without her ”Superprof" Professor Sanjay Popat, and the miracle drug the Royal Marsden provided for her Osimirtinib.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. The Charity makes sure nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are then used across the UK and around the world.
So, PLEASE help me raise as much money as possible to support The Royal Marsden. Today, one in two of us in the U.K. will be affected by Cancer. Let’s keep raising funds to allow the Royal Marsden to continue researching and finding new ground breaking ways to beat the evil that is this horrible disease.
THANK YOU
