My Story

On the 27th April 2025 I will be running the London Marathon for the first time, a dream I have had ever since I was young. Running has always been a big part of my life, and now I am taking on the biggest challenge yet to raise funds for a cause that is close to my family’s heart—Nuru of Mombasa.
This charity is a family-run organisation that was set up by my Uncle Trevor Thomas and my cousin Emma Brown.
The charity was formed to support Port Reitz Disabled School and Nuru Orphanage. ‘Nuru’ is Swahili for light. It is hoped that the charity brings light to some of the most marginalised children in Kenya.
The head teacher Mercy at Port Reitz disabled school has identified renovation of the children’s dormitories as a fundraising priority.
What is so good about this charity is all fundraisers are volunteers which means that every penny donated will go directly to the renovation of the dormitories.
As someone who has grown up with a passion for running and the desire to push myself to new limits, I am incredibly proud to use this opportunity to raise awareness and funds for such a worthy cause.
Your support, whether through a donation or by sharing my story, will help Nuru continue its important work. Thank you for being part of this journey with me!
