My Story

I am running the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Maggies. Maggie's are a fantastic charity close to my heart, set up to support people and families living with cancer. They offer practical and emotional support for anyone with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funds and rely on funds raised by their supporters.

They focus on the things that really make a difference, and I can't wait to make my miles matter.

To explain clearer- It’s easier to go through something yourself than for someone you love to go through the same thing.  And that’s where support for families and friends of people with cancer isn’t obvious until Maggies is given as a safe place- they are the support for you, but also support for your support network 🧡🫶🏻 the feeling of being helpless gets taken away by maggies- talking to experts from a human side of it verses a clinical side makes all the difference, they will never turn someone in need away or say they’re busy and that’s truly a special and rare thing.

On a personal level I’ve reached out to Maggies for help and advice a number of times this last year both face to face and over the phone, even when my family member Becky was in the palliative stage- they’ve always endeavoured to give me answers or go above and beyond to help in anyway that they can.

Working in a hopistal I'm faced with reminders everyday since of what cancer does to both the person and their loved ones- and Maggies is here for everyone every step of the way.

The reason I'm doing this?

One, this is for you Becky- we love you and miss you but I know you'll make it sunny for me on race day 🧡

Two, this is for all the people that have shown up at Maggies shellshocked and unsure of the next steps- let's give everyone the help they need by raising vital funds to highlight the amazing things they do

and three- this is also for people who didn't know the oasis of Maggies centres was a thing- cancers impact does not have a time stamp, whether you yourself had this disease 20 years ago and the mental aspect is still there or your loved one went through treatment yesterday or 10 years ago please utilise this amazing charity whenever your story or a loved ones had this chapter in it- believe me, they do wonders 🧡🫶🏻✨
