My Story

On April 27th, I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon. If you know me, you’ll know this is completely out of my comfort zone – and if my darling Pandora were here, she would think I was absolutely potty.

At 22, I was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in my knee after being misdiagnosed multiple times over the course of five years. The uncertainty and frustration of not knowing what was wrong were overwhelming. When I finally received the correct diagnosis, I underwent surgery, followed by fifteen years of follow-ups and uncertainty about what the future would hold. It was a life-changing moment that introduced me to a world I never expected, nor wanted to be part of—a world where sarcoma is rare, underfunded, and often misunderstood. I was fortunate to receive treatment, but so many others continue to face this battle with fewer options and less hope than they deserve.

Last year, we lost our darling Pands. The most unique, graceful, strong, kind and loving friend, mother, sister, aunt and daughter. She faced her future in the most dignified way in the face of so much adversity, always smiling, never complaining. I miss her every day, as I know do so many of you. As many of you know, we put together a beautiful Carol Service at Christ Church Collge, Oxford in 2021 which many of you attended, it was an incredible journey and we both learnt so much about Sarcoma UK and how critical it is we do what we can to support such a wonderful charity.

Sarcoma UK funds vital research, supports patients and families, and campaigns for better treatments. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to a future where sarcoma isn’t a devastating diagnosis.

Please, if you can, donate and share this page. Do it for those still fighting. Do it for Pandora. And if nothing else, do it to see if I can actually make it to the finish line!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

£25 Could fund a Research Associate to work on a Sarcoma UK research project for one hour.

£334 Could fund Sarcoma UK's specialist Support Line for a day.
£2,000 Could help with the manufacture of a new-generation drug (PROTAC) which specifically targets sarcoma proteins and could reduce treatment side-effects.
