My Story

It's one week to the London Marathon!!

Training has been such a journey but I can say I'm actually excited to get to run it in 7 days time! The hardwork has been done, now all we've got to do is put one foot in front of the other!

I'm running  for the brilliant Rainbow Trust Children's Charity and would love you to support me in raising some funds!

My first job living in London (if you don't count the 30 days as a waitress), was as a Play and Learn teacher for early years. I got to work with little ones experiencing serious or life-threatening illnesses, their sibilings and their parents through a connection the company made with The Rainbow Trust.

We would work closely with charity's incredible Support Workers (paired with each family) to consider access needs, learning objectives as well as special requests for Seaside, Zoo or even Unicorn Themes - and then we'd build sessions and experiences into our classes for the families. For 45 minutes we would sing, blow bubbles, slide down slides and hide under parachutes and relish in the opportunities to simply play.

I have wanted to run the London Marathon since moving here over 9 years ago, and so now I feel in a position I can actually run it and finish I knew it had to be for Rainbow Trust.

SO below is a bit more information from the Charity - far better articulated than my little story - and please consider supporting me to raise vital funds - donations big or small will help massively - THANK YOU!

Information:

Rainbow Trust support families who have a child with a serious or life-threatening illness. With an estimated 86,625 children in England with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, thousands of families must face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day-to-day basis. Rainbow Trust Family Support Workers provide a lifeline to these families and children.

Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed.
