My Story

Raising money for the Alzheimers society.

5 years ago Mum started to demonstrate unusual behaviours - it was lockdown and we weren't seeing her as often as we normally would. Unfortunately dementia took hold very quickly and she died in 2022.
Dad has been alone since and is now showing serious cognitive challenges. He's almost certainly going to need 'care support' in the not too distant future...

The Alzheimers Society is my charity of choice.
You could say its personal and I feel they need the additional support to help find a cure. After all we are all getting older and living longer - I'd quite like to enjoy it.

Historically I've said anyone who needed to travel 26 miles should get in the car or on the train, running was never my thing, in my hockey days I opted for positional sense, but in these days of climate change, sustainability and reducing emissions I'm in.

In 2023 we completed a Mighty Hike (marathon walk) so I guess having walked a marathon, the obvious next step is to run it! At 53 and having not really done anything too strenuous, its time to test myself and hopefully raise much needed funds.

Please give generously - After a knee injury early in 2024 I've been training throughout windy November, frozen December, miserable January, and wet February and that's when the Maranoia truly set in.

But having completed; Park Run, most of my long runs, (2 to go) a number of 1/2 marathons, Tempo runs, and Easy runs (I still don't know what they are) I'm in and hoping I can complete it.
Knowing I'm raising money for a great cause where friends, family,  colleagues and maybe even complete strangers have given generously will certainly help in the those final miles

And if the weather is nice and you have nothing better to do than come to London for a number of hours on 27th April (the atmosphere is supposed to be amazing) any physical support would be awesome!!

Thanks for your donations
