My Story

Why run the marathon?

My marathon journey began after a bottle of wine and an entry into the ballot on a whim, having been inspired by my lovely colleague who came back from running London 2024 with the biggest smile! I forgot I entered until I got the email a couple of months later "Hannah, you're in!". In what? I then opened the email, TCS London Marathon 2025; the penny dropped and I remembered applying. I couldn't even run 5km yet the opportunity which had been given to me was too good to give up. Fast approaching 40, I decided it could be the turning point for my fitness and one hell of an achievement to celebrate my milestone birthday!

Why Safeline?

Safeline are an incredible charity!

They helped me work through my own trauma in the past and now work in the school I work at supporting and educating young people to help keep them safe from toxic relationships and sexual abuse.

From 1-2-1 mentoring, to setting up a Student Safeguarding Forum and working with the whole of Year 9 and 12 each year to educate about abuse, Safeline put everything they can into reducing abuse and empowering victims to speak up. They are not just a counselling service!

Safeline charge nothing for their service. They rely on donations and funding.  Both Warwickshire County Council and central government have recently decided to end significant funding for Safeline. Funding is never guaranteed to continue the following year and sadly both of these decisions were made in close succession and have therefore hit Safeline hard. Now more than ever they need the help of fundraisers to continue their invaluable work!

I am proud to be one of three runners who will be out on the London 2025 course raising money and awareness for such a worthwhile charity. If you are able to support at all it would be very much appreciated.
