My Story

Early last year, our little girl Siena was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. It was during a family holiday in Cyprus that a doctor noticed a heart murmur and urged us to see a cardiologist. We came back to the UK and Siena had further tests, it was later confirmed that she had a hole in her heart.

Just one month after her diagnosis, she had a successful operation to repair the defect in February 2024. Now, at the age of six, Siena has recovered well from the surgery and no longer suffers from breathlessness. I’ve been through surgery, but it’s nothing compared to what Siena went through. We call her our heart warrior, the bravery and strength she’s shown has been incredible.

I am extremely proud to be a British Heart Foundation ambassador and I will be running the London 2025 Marathon on behalf of this amazing charity. Without lifesaving research keeping children’s hearts beating, we might not have Siena here with us today.

Each day, around 13 babies in the UK are diagnosed with congenital heart disease, with more diagnoses later in life.
The BHF currently fund around £14 million of research into the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad range of congenital heart defects, working towards improving earlier diagnosis and making congenital heart surgeries safer and more effective.

Please join me and support the BHF for all the other heart warriors out there, any donation - no matter how big or small, it would be incredible and hugely appreciated.

Thank you,
Jack
