My Story

Now that I am nearly 50, I am lucky enough to finally have a chance to run the London Marathon! But I’m not just running for myself; I’m running to support an incredible cause that’s close to my heart – Young Lives vs Cancer.

Cancer is a devastating diagnosis at any age, but it’s especially heartbreaking when it affects children and young people. Young Lives vs Cancer is a charity that provides vital support to these young patients and their families, helping them navigate the toughest battles of their lives. From providing accommodation near treatment centres to offering emotional and financial support, this charity ensures that no family has to face cancer alone.

Every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. Running the London Marathon is my way of giving back and making a difference. It’s a chance to push my limits, both physically and mentally, while raising awareness and funds for a cause that truly matters.

Training for a marathon is no small feat, especially at nearly 50. It requires dedication, resilience, and a lot of early morning runs! But every step I take is fueled by the knowledge that I’m contributing to a greater good. I’m inspired by the strength and courage of the young people battling cancer, and I’m determined to honour their fight with every mile I run.

Your donation can make a real difference in the lives of young cancer patients and their families. Together, we can help Young Lives vs Cancer continue their incredible work and bring hope to those who need it most.

You can see my training runs on Strava, linked below, and you'll see plenty of sweaty selfies on social media as the training ramps up! Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Let’s make my 50th year one to remember – not just for the personal achievement, but for the impact we can make together.
