My Story

I'm running the London Marathon to raise funds for a cause really close to my heart.

MediCinema operates cinemas inside hospitals and have a number of locations around the UK, including the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London where my daughter had two major operations in 2023.

Twice a week they show movies for kids and go around the hospital to bring kids, no matter their situation, into a proper movie theatre inside the hospital. It's hard to describe just how amazing that is when you're in a tough situation in hospital. Kids in their beds, hooked up to however many tubes and machines, rolled into the back of the theatre (see the photo) and getting a real movie experience. An hour and a half of pure enjoyment of the movie - one of the latests movies out in theatres - and a chance to escape their situation.

Medicinema are dependent on fund raising to support their work in many hospitals around the country, and so I'm running the London Marathon to try and raise funds.

My daughter and I both have the same genetic condition which meant we both had to have our large intestines removed. It makes running long distances harder than would be the case had I still got one, but not impossible. And nothing compared to what some of the kids (and adults) in hospitals around the country are going through every hour of every day.

So please do consider giving so that the joy this provides to kids can be spread to more hospitals around the country!

About us

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
