For Anthony, my missing brother
James Stammers
My Story
This year, my brother Anthony turns 40. I last saw him when he was 27!
It’s strange having a loved one go missing, no closure, no grieving, no real understanding of just what to do for the best.
I had the truly amazing privilege of becoming a father this year, with all the challenges becoming a parent brings, there’s one thing that will be alien to

I had the truly amazing privilege of becoming a father this year, with all the challenges becoming a parent brings, there’s one thing that will be alien to most though, when becoming a new parent is having a missing loved one, for my daughter it is her uncle Anthony. In fact, my partner hasn’t ever met him, which often leaves me wondering whether she or our daughter will ever get to meet her amazing, wonderful, loving uncle Anthony.
It also brings home just the gravity of pain my parents feel, the torment of their child’s disappearance must have on them, each and every day!
So this charity, Missing People is so incredibly personal to me that myself and my family could never articulate just how important they’ve been to us over the years since his disappearance.
They truly have been a lifeline at times so I will do everything in my power to help keep this small, underfunded but incredible charity going. So please, donate if you can as it really *will* make a difference!

A person is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, that's a staggering 170,000 missing people every year. As the only charity lifeline for anyone affected by a person going missing, we want to ensure we have the best chance to find all of these people.
