My Story

Yha all the way

YHA is a charity that transforms young lives forever through travel and real adventure.

They provide amazing places to stay and unique opportunities to explore. We fund stays for families and young people facing adversity so that everyone has the chance to gain new confidence, new skills and a new perspective on the world.

I have wanted to run the London Marathon for years, running has become a staple fixture in keeping me fit for several years now and has helped me with my mental health, keeping me sane whilst finishing my degree and burning off the stress of the long hospital shifts.

I have decided to raise money for the YHA as it has been a big part of mine and my family's lives for many years, allowing us to spend our holidays in amazing places, so we can have outdoor adventures every year even though we were on a tight budget. This love of the outdoors continues to this day with all of us still staying in YHA's on our holidays allowing us to continue adventures whilst supporting the YHA. To help young people of limited means to appreciate and learn about the countryside, enjoy the cultural values of towns and cities, gain positive experiences and education. Enrich their lives, physical and mental health and develop life skills.

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
