My Story

More research and funding is needed to develop safer and effective treatment for children with cancer, as younger bodies are less able to endure the same treatments used for adults.

I hope that my fundraising efforts might benefit even one family, by either supporting this research, or providing financial assistance, emotional support and/or educational resources to help them navigate the devastation of childhood cancer.

UPDATE: one month to go!

The past 14 weeks have scrambled my brain. I've been diligently following a training plan, and with one month to go I've managed to gaslight myself into believing a 10k run isn't really that far, and that any poor diet can be written off as "carb-loading".

My legs feel like they're made of lead. I’ve been having anxiety dreams and planning my weekends around long runs. My social media feeds are bombarded with running influencers and targeted ads for running socks or energy gels.

With that said, I'm so grateful and excited for the marathon. This weekend, I’ll take on 21 miles, the longest distance in my training before I start tapering. It feels like I’m approaching the beginning of the end. After 18 weeks of hard work, my aim is to consider those last 26.2 miles will be a celebration.

I'm typically a very self-conscious person, so it doesn't come naturally to be bold and repeatedly ask for donations. I'm really so thankful to everyone who has donated so far.

UPDATE: I'm equally excited yet disturbed to realise that I'm over halfway through my training plan, with less than 9 weeks to go!

As my long runs get longer, it's definitely getting a bit challenging to fit everything in—I've been sneaking in runs before the kids wake up, during my lunch break, or later at night. But I’m genuinely really enjoying the challenge and can’t wait to hit the streets of London!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Your support means the world to me and truly motivates me to give it my all. I'm so grateful for each and every one of you!

This April, I will have the honour of running the London Marathon and fundraising for Children With Cancer. It may be obvious to say, but the injustice of cancer knows no age. This incredible charity funds research and provides support for families during the most devastating times.

While I may be that cliché friend who started running in their 30s, I’ve never run a marathon. Deciding to go for it is thrilling, but to be honest, I’m kind of shitting myself… currently metaphorically, but potentially literally. However, knowing that I’m doing this for such a meaningful cause is a strong wind in my sails.

Over the next 16 weeks, I’m sorry to say I will be going full Forrest Gump with my training, along with a few other races along the way, so apologies in advance for the repeated postings of the donation link to come.

If anyone has advice to share or can simply offer words of encouragement, I would be truly grateful. If anyone can donate, though, that would mean the world.

I promise I won’t just take the money and run…🥁
