The TCS London Marathon 2025
The Benson Family
My Story
In 2020, life changed for our family. Dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Just 18 months later, despite major operations and chemotherapy, he passed away with his us by his side.
Dad was a fundrasining fanatic. Summiting Mt Kilimanjaro on his 60th birthday, running marathons for charity and dressing as Father Christmas ever year in the local community. Everything he did was to make the lives of other people better.
Chris, Joe, Abby and Kate have decided, and are incredibly grateful for the opportunity, to run the marathon for Maggie's in dad's honour. Not only will this allow us to follow in his footsteps but it will also provide us with the chance to raise much needed funds for Maggie's. A charity that supported all of the family, especially our mum, throughout dad's cancer journey.
We appreciate that during dads journey, and after, we have completed numerous fundraisers and people have given so generously. We can't promise this will be the last time we do something to raise money in dad's name, but this is certainly our toughest challenge yet. For whatever your reason for coming to this page, to support Maggies, donate in dad's name, or pay to see the four of us suffer, we appreciate your time and any contribution that you feel you are able to make. Thank you.

Why Maggie's?
Maggies is a fantastic charity close to our hearts, set up to support people and families suffering with the effects of cancer, as well as championing quality architecture for their centres.
Maggies Centres offer practical and emotional support to people with any type of cancer, at any stage, for free. They receive no government funds and rely on the generosity of their supporters. They focus on the things that really make a difference, such as financial worries, housing, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as side efforts of treatment and they offer family support. They offer this through 1-1 support or group sessions.
There are 24 centres in the UK and 4 in London, welcoming 100+ visitors into each centre every day"
