My Story
Our Brave Warrior ππ
Hi there, many of you already know our story and the love and support shown by all our friends and family has been phenomenal. We really are so blessed to have such wonderful people surrounding us ever day.
Our Brave Warrior, my perfect husband and doting father to our 2 beautiful children is the soul focus on completing this incredible challenge.
Simon will be the force behind my determination and I wish to live up to his warrior status, do him proud and show our beautiful children that you can do anything you wish to achieve in life. What better was to do this than taking part in the London marathon and as someone who has only ever taken part in half marathons this is going to be a massive challenge for myself but raising funds that could help save further lives is just the perfect way to honour our brave warrior. Any help would be really appreciated, whether it's by donating or sharing my page I would be so grateful. Please keep your eye out for various things I will be organising throughout the year to help boost these funds too.
our story for those that don't already know:
Simon Humphreys was and is our world but unfortunately lost his long 4 year battle with a rare type of soft tissue cancer back in 2021. Simon fought so hard and his determination to fight this nasty disease head on was out of this world. He had so much to live for, our 2 beautiful children Rhys and Ruby were his entire world and there is nothing he wouldn't do for them. He so wanted to watch his babies grow into the beautiful children they are today. At such a young age our little beauties have had to deal with a massive loss that so many won't experience until adulthood and although this breaks my heart, Rhys and Ruby have been miniature warriors throughout and they have handled all these emotions and feeling like troopers, they really are mini Simons through and through.
Simon began his journey with cancer back in 2017, after being rushed into hospital we were faced with the devastating news that Simon had a very large tumour that they were not sure could be removed. The only option was to go for surgery so they could take a look but we had been warned that it wasn't looking good. In true warrior fashion Simon came out of that surgery with so much positivity, we couldn't believe that the surgeons had worked their socks off and spent 11 and a half hours removing this tumour !!! They had saved Simon and we are so grateful for everything they done that day as without them we wouldn't have had that extra 4 years together . He had to undergo some intense chemo that totally knocked him off his feet but he battled through, he had our beautiful son Rhys to keep his spirits high and Much to our delight we found out we were expecting again just before he started the chemo so he now had 2 little angels to fight for. Just before Ruby was born Simon went into remission and I really don't think we have ever experienced relief quite like it. We had an incredible year as a family of 4, living life to the full and experiencing everything together.
As we hit that year mark our bubble was burst, his cancer was back. Simon had to undergo lots of different treatments and chemos and he battled on through in true Simon fashion. Christmas 2020 was our last Christmas together. It took us all by surprise as he was up building all the kids toys on the Christmas Eve but by new year we had been hit with the devastating news that no one ever wants to hear. We were told Simon had 3 months left to live and unfortunately we were only blessed with 6 weeks with him in the end. This rollercoaster was definitely one we wanted to get off, we were not ready for this and his loss has been felt deeply everyday throughout the family and friends that so adored him.
After experiencing some really low times I am now ready to take these challenges in life to the next level, to push myself to show Rhys and Ruby that we must fight on with the warrior spirit that Simon had.
Amy donation no matter how big or small would be appreciated more than you can imagine. Please help me make a difference in life and help me raise the much needed funds to allow cancer research to keep finding new ways to treat and cure this awful disease.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and if you could give my page a little share I would be so grateful.
Simon you are missed way beyond any worlds could ever describe and I will love you with every part of my entire being forever and always ππππ
As Simon Would say :
Dont count the days, make the days count !!!
