My Story
A Race for Mum
Imagine winning the lottery, but instead of a jackpot, you get a room at Willen Hospice for your Mum.
That's exactly how it felt for our family.
Here's why!
For weeks, watching Mum slowly decline in a busy hospital ward was heartbreaking. The constant noise, lack of privacy, and revolving door of patients made it impossible for her to find peace. Different answers from doctors, endless tests, and a system stretched thin felt like a never-ending cycle.
Though the staff did their very best, the hospital wasn't the place for Mum's final chapter. Then, on New Year's Eve, a glimmer of hope appeared. We were offered a bed at Willen Hospice.
Willen Hospice: A Place of Love and Dignity
From the moment we arrived, everything changed. A private room, filled with love and family, replaced the chaos. Mum's pain was managed, and she spent her last days surrounded by those who cherished her most. It was the peaceful, dignified goodbye she deserved - a 5-star departure we all wish for our loved ones.
Giving Back the Gift We Received
Willen Hospice relies on donations to keep these incredible services running, and their work is vital. That's why I'm running the 2025 London Marathon in their honour.
Why Me?
"I'm 56, a Park Run enthusiast (5km, max!), and yes, both my knees are partially replaced. This won't be easy, but I'm determined. The long runs have begun, and trust me, my body is protesting! But I won't stop!"
Join My Journey
Follow my training journey as I prepare for the marathon. If you can offer any kind of support, big or small, it will be deeply appreciated. Together, we can ensure more families receive the same level of care and love that Willen Hospice gave Mum.
