My Story
Why I'm fundraising...
I am a consultant at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton. As part of this I lead our critical care transport service SORT (Southampton Oxford Retrieval Team). This service sends out specialist intensive care team to other hospitals across a wide area to help resuscitate critically ill babies, infants, children and teenagers. We then bring them to the appropriate PICU.
When these children arrive on PICU, sometimes hours away from their home, our charity, Friends of PICU, support our families in so many ways.
Over time our transport work has sadly had to increase a lot and our ambulances are getting run down quicker. These ambulances are one of many things that Friends of PICU, our charity, fund raise for. They cost £180,000 - and we need a new one, along with many other things to support our vital work.
Friends of PICU are working hard to help with this - and this is my contribution to fundraise. By running a LONG WAY.
Any donation is welcome - and could go towards our new ambulance or other equiptment to help resuscitate children or support families. The Friends of PICU charity do some amazing work and have funded so many things to help children, families and staff - it is time to give back!
Please sponsor me! I will think of every penny as I'm running the miles....
