My Story
On April 27th 2025, I will be getting on my running shoes and running the TCS London Marathon, all to raise funds for Movember.
Men’s health is in crisis. Men are dying on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and for largely preventable reasons.
Movember is tackling the biggest health issues faced by men – prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. In fact, since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects.
The rate of male suicide is alarmingly high: 3 out of 4 suicides in the UK are by men. We can’t sit back and accept this.
Movember looks at mental health through a male lens, focusing on prevention, early intervention and health promotion. They’re working towards a world where men take action to be mentally well and are supported by those around them.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK.
1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and across the country, there are more than 395,000 men living with and beyond the disease. Many are dealing with serious side effects from treatment.
Testicular cancer strikes young. It’s the most common cancer in young UK men. At greater than 95%, the odds of survival for men with testicular cancer are better than good – but for some men, long-term treatment-related side effects, mean quality of life is severely compromised. Movember focus on getting these predominantly young men back to living full and healthy lives.
