My Story

I am aiming to raise money for Action On Pre-Eclampsia, a charity that raises awareness, improves care, and provides vital support to mums, families, and healthcare professionals. Action On Pre-Eclampsia is a small charity with minimal overheads that support clinical research into pre-eclampsia while directly helping affected families.

On the 8th of August 2023, my sister-in-law and brother faced an unimaginable tragedy. My sister-in-law experienced complications during her pregnancy and gave birth prematurely to my nephew, Angus Rowley, at just 24 weeks. She had developed HELLP Syndrome, a life-threatening and rare variant of pre-eclampsia, and narrowly survived the ordeal. Tragically, Angus passed away on the 14th of August 2023. Families going through similar heartbreak need support, and that’s where Action On Pre-Eclampsia steps in.

I’ve chosen to run the London Marathon in honor of my nephew and to raise money for Action On Pre-Eclampsia, helping families like my own who have been touched by this condition. The London Marathon is especially meaningful to me and my family, as we grew up in London, and it’s where I want to continue supporting families that are affected by Pre-Eclampsia, in memory of Angus.

About us

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
