My Story
Hi everyone!
I'm proud to say I'll be running the London Marathon next year to raise money for an incredible charity called Phab.
Growing up with Fibromyalgia, I often felt excluded and not able to partake in activities with other kids. When it first flared up, the pain was so severe that some days I struggled to walk and couldn't attend school for nearly a full year. A charity like Phab can really make a difference to those with disabilities - not only in helping them enjoy life but make them feel like they can be part of a community and that they're not alone.
Phab's aim for over 60 years has been to give children, young people and adults with disabilities the same opportunities as everyone else – breaking down barriers and reducing social isolation whilst having great fun together! One of the amazing things they do is arrange Adventure Residentials which provide an inclusive and exciting experience away from home to promote confidence, social connections and build personal growth and sense of accomplishment and fun through a range of outdoor activities such as canoeing, rock climbing, caving, archery, sailing and much more.
About the Marathon
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
