My Story

About Me...

Hi
My name is Natalie, I am a wife, mum, carer, worker, student... how do I find time to run? I can't even answer that!

I am fundraising for The Blue Light Foundation.
The Blue Light Foundation Established in 2022, the Blue Light Card Foundation was borne out of Blue Light Card, the UK’s largest discount provider for members of the NHS, emergency services, armed forces, and social sector. From wellbeing to working environment, we give back to those who give most. From nurses to cave rescuers, there’s a community that needs more support – that’s what the Blue Light Card Foundation provides.

What does this mean for me?
I Am a veteran of the Armed Forces, my husband is also an ex-forces veteran, on 21st April 2004, my husband was involved in a sucide attack on Iraqi police stations in Chandigarh, Basra. The incident killed hundreds of Iraqi police, innocent local residents and seriously injured several British troops.
My husband was caught in the second blast leaving him with life threatening injuries, he was fortunate enough to be treated in Iraq by an amazing surgeon from the American Forces before being flown home to our own military hospital in Birmingham.
My husband is blinded and had multiple surgeries on his body. Including plastic surgery to his face.

The blue light card foundation discounts we obtain from the Blue Light Card enables us to afford to provide memories, clothing and in general nice things for my family. Along sides this gives us opportunities to take part in wellness and wellbeing retreats and exercises.

Why is Blue Light Foundation important?

Not only do they provide the Blue Light Card. The foundation supports projects which support wellbeing for emergency services workers. The projects we fund aim to improve the physical and emotional wellbeing of members of the Blue Light community, including those in the emergency, volunteer, and rescue services.
Blue Light Card donate a percentage of their profits and we use income from our events, fundraising activity and corporate partnerships. When there’s nowhere to turn to for funding, we’ll be here.
We realised there was so much more that could be done to fund the vital work carried out by the Blue Light community, a theme only magnified by the coronavirus pandemic.

Help me to help them make a difference!

In return I will be challenging myself to train for 13 weeks and to run the 2025 TCS London Marathon.
I will post regular updates updates of my training and you can follow my journey.

On 27th April 2025, the BBC will broadcast the Marathon and you can play "Where's Natty" with the crowds of people running! I will upload a photo of my running vest closer to the time.

Thank you in advance for all reading and for your support!

About Us...

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
