My Story

Brett's bucket list marathon

https://youtu.be/j4z-eQVjzQM?si=bsNH6XCt36ppYFA4

As many people will know when I lost my husband, Brett, to a brain tumour in 2019 I decided I would continue to honour his memory and tick off things from his bucket list he wasn't able to do.

I have so far had the privilege of traveling Australia, seening ayres rock, visiting the Great Barrier Reef, sky diving, driving a Ferrari, watchin the northern lights in Lapland........so now is the time to tick off a challenge!

Although being a PE teacher, running isn't something that comes naturally for me so I have been procrastinating this challenge for a number of years but 2025 will be my year!

I watched Brett's unmatched determination through every stage of his treatment. At his lowest he had to reteach himself to walk again after invasive brain surgery and he then returned to work to teach PE, a pretty formidable achievement! If I can go into this challenge with a fraction of his willpower it will help me out.

It will be a huge honour to run this marathon in Bretts memory and we would appreciate and help, support, encouragement or donation along the way!

About us

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
