My Story
London Marathon 2025
I have been given the incredible opportunity to run 1 of the world majors & for a charity close to my family!
In 2017 Michael, my father-in-law to be, was given the devastating and life changing news that he has Myeloma, a type of blood cancer that develops in bone marrow. It meant vigorous treatments, including; stem cell treatment, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and physical/mental rehabilitation.
One of the first steps, and one of the most vital treatments, was locating a stem cell donor that was a match.
And amazingly that very thing happened!
The picture at the top was the emotional day that Michael (left) got to meet the donor that saved his life. It was the stem cell register created by the Anthony Nolan charity that matched the donor and supported them both through the life saving treatment.
It was thanks to them that Michael was able to walk his daughter down the aisle, to meet his first grandchild, to get back on his feet and to have another chance at life. Although the initial treatments were successful, Michaels illness has relapsed multiple times and is unfortunately terminal.
This now means any further treatments and new discoveries is so important.
A tough (and very far 😅!) challenge, but for every mile and tough moment, I will be reminded that this is nothing compared to what so many others have to face daily with blood cancer.
Any contribution you may have spare, whether it’s big or small, is helping someone have another chance like Michael. Straight away!
So thank youuu so much.
I really believe we all have the ability to give something back
Londons iconic 26.2miles course, here I come!!! I can’t wait to take you all along with me ❤️🥹
Thank you for reading & making a difference, lots of love Orry x
