My Story
Hi im Becca and I am running the London marathon in 2025. I honestly never thought I would get the opportunity to do this, so I am grasping it with both hands and running for a charity that does such important work, for a cause that is very personal to me.
I suffer with endometriosis and adenomoysis. Endometriosis is where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other places and Adenomoysis is where lining of the womb starts growing in the wall of the womb.
My endometriosis is now at the most severe stage 4, where the tissue is spreading lots of places. This is causing lots of complications and daily pain as lots of my organs, such as my ovary and bowel are sticking together with Endometriosis tissue.
These conditions cause me to be in chronic pain along with heavy periods, that at times, have caused me to collapse.
Endometriosis South Coast is a registered charity set up to help people along the South Coast who are going through the diagnosis stages or have been diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. They do this by raising awareness, holding support groups, and fundraising. Fundraising for them allows small charities to keep doing fantastic work and advocating for people who need support.
I am hoping my training and eventual running of the marathon, will spread the message of these conditions and also break the taboo around talking about menstrual health. I also hope, that my marathon training might inspire anyone else suffering with a chronic condition to not be defeated! During training I will be navigating pain and periods and i am determined to do this!
Women's health needs more funding and to be taken more seriously. It takes an average of 8 years to be diagnosed with Endometriosis currently in the UK. This is not good enough.
Thank you in advance for your support. Every share, like or donation is really appreciated.
For all endo warriors out there. We got this 💛💛
Much love
