Back in July 2024 I was fortunate enough to receive an email congratulating me on a ballot place for 2025's London Marathon. This was about the 15th time I had applied via the ballot so was a long time coming and a very pleasant surprise.
From the end of August I began my training (on and off) until January of 2025 where my full marathon training plan commenced. It has always been on my bucket list to complete the London Marathon, and despite now being 37 I've always had it in my head to beat that magical sub 4 hour mark that amateur runners target.
To help inspire me I have decided to officially partner up with Myeloma UK, a charity I have raised money for previously, and one that has a very strong connection to my family after my Nan lost her battle with the lesser known type of cancer back in 2017. There is no official target I have to raise but would appreciate any and all donations no matter how small to support the amazing work Myeloma UK do.
Thanks in advance and please feel free to follow my training journey and progress on Sunday April 27th 2025!
About us
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.
Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
