My Story
About us
The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981. Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace.
I have chosen to run the The London Marathon for several reasons. Firstly to support The Salvation Army, who, during my time in the British Army, were there supporting us, in the background, right time, right place, hot food and beverages, requesting nothing in return - this is my time to give back.
The other reasons, are very personal. Being a runner all my life, not just for physical well being but for my mental health. Having gone through many years of not being able to run due to injury, resulting in a full knee replacement. I am now glad, after a slow build up, running again, albeit slower and more respectful of my body and health..
The London Marathon is a big challenge for me. Returning from injury, being advised never to run again, getting older!!, where recovery takes longer and although my mind is strong, my body is a bit more fragile.
I am also climbing Snowdon on the 5th April and I plan a third event this year, possibly a triathlon.
Please support me on this quest and any donation is very much welcome.
Thanks you
Ross
