My Story

About us

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

The Brain Tumour Charity is at the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours, making a difference every day to the lives of people with a brain tumour and their families. We fund pioneering research to increase survival, raise awareness of the symptoms and effects of brain tumours and provide support for everyone affected to improve quality of life. We are committed to having the biggest possible impact for every person affected by a brain tumour, and to defending the most amazing part of the human body.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with a benign tumour in my Pituitary gland in my brain and my whole world changed. I had no clue the impact this would have on my life especially being a lone parent household of two children under the age of 8. It took its toll on my work and family life. However, thanks be to God they did not have to operate and I was put on strong steroids. I now live with a small tumour on my brain but I've been healthy and ready to face this challenge.

this charity means a lot to me, not just because of my experience but also because of my beautiful cousin Leticia and Uncle Alan.
